Sri Lanka's east-coast surf capital, forty minutes down the road. Main Point is a world-class right-hand break that draws surfers from all over between April and October — beginners head to Baby Point and Whiskey Point nearby.
Off the water it's a lazy beach town: seafood shacks on the sand, coconut trees leaning over the bay, and a long crescent of golden beach that's still quiet compared to the west coast. Off-season (November to March) the crowds thin out and the bay slows right down.
